This volume contains a representative set of recent contributions to corpus linguistics within the area of Hispanic studies. The first part of this book consists of analyses of grammatical phenomena on the basis of corpus data. The second part is dedicated to corpus design and corpus building of various kinds with particular attention to data collection and exploitation. Both sections of this compilation are illustrative of the variety of the resources and of the ways in which the availability of corpora benefits the study of language and linguistics with respect to both Spanish and several other languages (Galician, Portuguese, German). A number of chapters clarify the necessity of a plurilingual approach, be it in accounting for phenomena of language contact, for application to foreign language teaching and learning, or for translation studies. Due to its diverse authorship, this volume provides a stimulating panorama of the possibilities that corpus linguistics offers in enabling linguists to acquire a more profound understanding of language.
