| Abstract |
While sustainability is increasingly on the agenda of private law research, efforts to systematically integrate the theme in teaching appear to raise significant (theoretical and practical) challenges. The chapter aims to address some of them. First, how to square such a large-scale problem with classical tenets of legal certainty and justice between the parties? Second, how to include sustainability-related issues without excessively sacrificing traditionally ‘core’ content, and without bringing polarization to the classroom? While no course needs to do it all, the chapter argues, all private law courses could and should take up the challenge of raising more sustainable lawyers.
