Abstract Religious schools have existed for centuries, and continue to have surprising staying power, even in state‐financed and managed systems. The differences between religious schools continue to be significant, as are the reasons parents give for preferring them. Criticisms brought against religious schools, too, are varied, though it remains unclear whether each of these criticisms is valid, or, for that matter, uniquely applicable to religious schools.
