| Abstract |
The majority of children with functional defecation disorders respond well to conservative treatment, such as laxatives and behavior therapy. Challenging is the small subgroup of patients who are not responsive to conventional treatment and continue to have symptoms. In Part I of this thesis associated (behavior) problems are discussed. Part II discusses which outcome measures should be measured in trials regarding functional constipation. Part III focuses on new diagnostic tests and Part IV on therapeutic strategies for pediatric functional defecation disorders.
