Abstract	The main result of this thesis can be summarized as follows: the addition of metformin to clomifene citrate in therapy-naïve women with polycystic ovary syndrome does not increase their chance of pregnancy except for possibly a subgroup of older women with high waist hip ratio, does hardly lead to improved metabolic profiles but does lead to a decreased health related quality of life.
