Studied the impact factor as an indicator of the quality of journal articles. Human subjects: 28 normal Dutch adults (members of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Amsterdam). Ss judged the quality of 6 articles selected from 3 well-known social psychological journals (the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and the Journal of Applied Social Psychology) with high, average, and low impact factors, respectively. Ss rated the introduction, the methodology section, the results section, the discussion section, and the general quality of the articles. (English abstract
