Abstract: Unilaterale condylaire hyperactiviteit is een groeistoornis die wordt gekenmerkt door een progressieve asymmetrie van de mandibula en in sommige gevallen secundair ook van de maxilla. Verschillende vormen zijn hemimandibulaire hyperplasie, hemimandibulaire elongatie en een hybride vorm. De oorzaken zijn onbekend. Voor het vaststellen van een behandelplan is het belangrijk te bepalen of sprake is van voortdurende en/of overmatige condylaire activiteit, eventueel met behulp van skeletscintigrafie.
