Encapsulerende peritoneale sclerose (EPS) is een ernstige complicatie van langdurige buikspoeling of peritoneale dialyse (PD). Denise Sampimon onderzocht de vroege stadia van deze complicatie. Zij keek naar peritoneale functietesten, effluent markers en zette een multicenterstudie op om risicofactoren te onderzoeken. Op basis daarvan concludeert ze dat jaarlijks peritoneale functietesten zouden moeten worden uitgevoerd. Zodra een patiƫnt na meer dan twee jaar PD-ultrafiltratiefalen ontwikkelt, dient men PD binnen twee jaar te staken.
