Investigations into the relation between educational research and practice in the Netherlands and Flanders
Although the problematic relation between educational research and practice has given rise to an intensive debate, it rarely has been investigated empirically. In this contribution, results of a literature review, a questionnaire study and a focus group study are used to make an inventory of problems, causes and solutions regarding the supposed "research-practice gap" that are put forward by professionals - researchers, policy makers, school managers, teachers, mediators, among others. All these groups agree that the usefulness and the use of research can be improved in many ways and suggest an eclectic approach to bridge the gap.
