It was about seven years ago when the so-called 'personalisation' of digital services was introduced in the academic library world. Few will be quick to state that this development became an overwhelming success. The opposite, in fact. R.L. Hunsucker explains in this article why things went the way they went and why, in principle, nobody should have expected the chosen approach to ever really succeed.
