ABSTRACT Protolithosia roseivenata Röber, 1925, currently placed in the Arctiidae, Lithosiinae, is found to be conspecific with Ethopia roseilineata Walker,  (Pyralidae, Galleriinae). Accordingly, Protolithosia Röber, 1925,is synonymized with Ethopia Walker,  (syn. n.) and Protolithosia roseivenata Röber, 1925, is synonymized with Ethopia roseilineata Walker,  (syn. n.). The delegation of the genus (and species) to the Pyralidae Galleriinae is
confirmed. The imagines and genitalia are depicted and a distribution map is given.
