| Samenvatting | This review examines whether trust, distrust and suspicion fulfill different roles in
intergroup negotiation. Little research is available on the topic, especially concerning
differences between intergroup distrust and suspicion. If trust, distrust and suspicion were part
of the same construct, this lack of research matters little, but if they are distinct, this
deficiency leads to incomplete insights in the psychology of intergroup negotiations. Recent
research suggests that trust, distrust and suspicion are distinct constructs, as they are defined
and conceptualized differently. They do not only differ in the way they effect in intergroup
negotiation, but also in the way they realize those effects. This review emphasizes the
importance that trust, distrust and suspicion deserve separate attention in intergroup
negotiation. |
