SamenvattingWeight of support The development of a scale for people with intellectual disabilities. This paper describes an attempt to develop a scale to predict the weight of support of adults with intellectual disabilities in day-care-centres. The scale emphasizes the pedagogic support instead of existing scales that emphasize care. After composing a scale based on literature and consultation, educationalists used the scale for 359 clients. After statistical analyses results showed one sub-scale with too many items. Factor analysis is used to join items. The internal consistency coefficients are about .8000, except one, which has been removed. The interrator-reliability has a mean of .542. The predictive validity, tested by multiple regression, shows that 50.4 % of the variance of the estimated weight is explained by the scale. Reliability and validity are satisfactory. We expect this scale to measure the weight of support satisfactory in daily practice.
