| Samenvatting | The effectiveness of intensive crisis intervention was examined using a meta-analysis.
The results indicate that crisis intervention is not effective in preventing out-of-home
placement. Crisis intervention had a medium positive effect on family functioning. A
larger effect of crisis intervention on preventing out of home placement is found when
studies contain a higher percentage of boys, a lower percentage of single parents, a
lower caseload of the caseworker or when studies are of lesser quality. Crisis
intervention is more effective with multi-problem families than with families where
child abuse or neglect is the primary problem. Crisis intervention is also more
effective for families with a immediate risk of out-of-home placement than for
families where there is no immediate risk. |
