AbstractThe relativistic material energy-momentum tensor in polarized media, which contains bulk terms, fluctuation terms and correlation terms, is studied especially in the nonrelativistic limit. On this basis explicit forms of the energy-momentum and angular momentum laws are given. Contributions quadratic in the polarization are proved to be contained in the correlation terms. For this reason a redefinition of the field and material part of the total energy-momentum tensor may be introduced.
